Luxury wedding designer Sabina Motasem is excited to reveal the label has been named Best Sustainable Bridalwear Brand in the 2022 Marie Claire Sustainability Awards.

The awards, which are in their second year, celebrate the brands, organisations, and products that are genuinely implementing change and building a better tomorrow.

Sabina, who launched the Green Bridal Collection in 2020 tells us: "We are so happy to be recognised for the work that we are doing in creating sustainable bridalwear."

She continues: "It's such an honour to receive this from Marie Claire - it's heartening they are celebrating eco-friendly brands like ours. Our mission was to prove that you can be environmentally friendly and fully sustainable without compromising on quality or price. And we didn't want to stop there – we also wanted to empower women and help communities as well. This award really is the icing on the (wedding) cake!"

The wedding category, new to the awards this year, was judged by Andrea Thompson, Editor-in-Chief of Marie Claire UK, Jenny Proudfoot, Features Editor of Marie Claire UK and Michelle Miles, the founder of the Sustainable Wedding Alliance.

Talking about why Sabina Motasem was chosen as the winner, Michelle tells us: "It's great to see they are working on being regenerative, rather than just neutral."

Launched during the pandemic, The Green Collection offers an affordable, sustainable choice for the eco and cost-conscious bride. Entirely made in London, using luxe quality sustainable and vegan materials, the dresses feel incredible to wear and go way beyond the wedding day.

"We could see there was a growing need for a range of wedding dresses that was not only luxe but also 100% sustainable and affordable," explains Sabina.

"It's taken us a long time to find the right fabrics that met our high-quality couture standards. It wasn't easy, but it's great to be able to present them to the world. They're a labour of love and we're really proud of them!"

As well as aiming to be environmentally friendly, Sabina Motasem wants to empower women too – one dress at a time. They do this by transforming off-cut leftover fabrics into stylish workwear items and regularly donating them to Smart Works, a women's charity helping marginalised women gain more confidence to get a job. This also helps to achieve zero waste.

Further to that, sample dresses from earlier collections are donated to Brides Do Good, a wedding boutique that supports charity projects working to empower girls and end child marriage.
